This music was recorded at The Loading Dock on two mornings in February 2021. One take, with all the mistakes and possible alignments in sound. This music centers around the idea of chance and how that squares up with intentionality. Devising systems to frame up short term memory and being open to the process of discovery thru playing.
As as drummer and supporter of music, the idea of putting together an album that features just my playing would have seemed far fetched a year ago. Now, I don't give a shit. This music reflects where I am at this moment and serves as a testament to the feeling of being somewhat adrift in isolation while also finding ground with a pulse that comes from the physicality of playing music and reverberating sound inside a comfortable space.
These recordings are two 40 minute improvisations that have been folded in half so that the piano overlays the drums and guitar which were played simultaneously.
